How Delhaize flagey beat the lunchtime queue with interactive ordering kiosks

Niboo, Tom Scutnaire
The Delhaize store on Place Flagey is one of Brussels' busiest spots. But with high footfall comes logistical challenges too. Carlos Courtois, the store manager, explains how digitalising his sandwich counter with Niboo transformed everyday life for his teams and the experience for his customers.
The context
A long-standing partnership
The partnership between Delhaize Flagey and Niboo goes back a long way. In the early days, Carlos Courtois managed his accounting in an almost archaic way, sending invoices by courier. Looking for a way to save time, he discovered Niboo. From implementing accounting on Odoo to adding the sales module and the website, trust grew with every project. Recently, Carlos faced a major new challenge, and naturally turned to Quentin's team at Niboo.
The challenge
The dreaded lunchtime rush
Every day, the Delhaize Flagey sandwich counter prepares around a hundred sandwiches. At lunchtime, the situation became critical.
Teams under pressure
Taking orders the traditional way took forever, putting intense stress on the counter staff, who were completely overwhelmed.
Discouraged customers
Faced with a long queue, waiting times kept growing. As a result, many customers gave up and chose other lunch options nearby.
Traffic needed to flow better, and fast.

The solution
A touchscreen ordering kiosk connected to Odoo
To address this, the Niboo team proposed installing touchscreen ordering kiosks, 100% connected to the existing Odoo system.
Ordering in a few seconds, without queuing at the counter. Just a few days between the equipment arriving in store and going fully operational.
A month after launch, the results are excellent across the board.
A major time saving
An average of 1 minute of waiting time saved per order, per person. Customers no longer wait around, and the queue moves quickly.
Frictionless adoption for staff
No training was needed: when a customer confirms an order on screen, the ticket prints straight out in the kitchen, exactly as if a staff member had taken it themselves. The team can finally focus on what matters: preparation.
Customers won over
Even regulars, who might have been thrown by the change, picked up the interface within seconds: choosing bread, salad and sauces, all of it intuitive.
A higher average basket
Ordering on screen puts customers at ease and visually suggests extras: the store now sells more sides and add-ons. Every sale automatically feeds into Odoo's inventory and accounting.
